L'escarpolette tapestry, painted in the 18th century by Fragonard, a master of galant scenes.
In 1767, the painter Doyen was commissioned by a man of the court to paint his mistress on an escarpolette, being pushed by a bishop; he himself would be depicted watching the petticoats fly. Doyen, shocked, recommended Fragonard, who was reputed to excel in gallant scenes.
This tapestry is woven and made in France in the workshops of Jules Pansu. Our workshops have EPV certification and are located in Halluin.
