Chasse d'Oudry tapestry in jacquard weave representing a traditional hunting scene.
Stag hunting was a noble amusement and one of the favourite hobbies of lords in the past. In 18th-century tapestries were very often woven with those scenes. This hunting scene was created by the famous French animal painter, of Jean-Baptiste Oudry. In a landscape surrounded by woods, hormen prepare the pack of stag hounds to the sound of hunting horns. This tapestry represents a hunting halt in the Forest of Compiègne, north of Paris.
Tapestries woven and made in our Les Tissages de la Lys workshops in Halluin, Flanders, France.
